The countdown to the return is getting closer, I hope you guys are ready!!!
It's only fair to let everyone know that my life has flip turned upside down right now, lost a wife, a job and so many other things that it's been hard to get fired up about much lately. I'm in Texas now and will have limited opportunity to get online that's not dial up for about another month, then things should get back to some normality. Until then, I have a ton of work that needs to get up and I hope everyone continues to enjoy the work I've posted in the meantime. If anyone has colors or inks or renderings of my pictures I would surely appreciate you sending me a link and I'd love to see what you've done in the meantime. Thanks and hope you guys still believe in me and what I'm doing in the art world.

Well, I'm feeling a little better about my situation. Put up some new artwork and I have decided it's contest time. This contest will be a battle of the ink, the winner will get some well deserved membership extensions, a journal feature and a possible print if I can ever figure out how to get that stuff working. Tell everyone inker you know, hell ink it yourself, the world will decide the winner and give you your recognition. This isn't a popularity contest though, the highest three candidates will then get full critiques from professor's at my alma matta and that will determine the skill, completeness and creativity of the entrants. So come one and come all, put a plug in your journals about it, lets see some magic!!!

Well, I guess I really need to get off my ass and put up some art on here. So, sorry for the bum feelings I've had recently, hope everyone is still around. My sub ran out so I can't see all the stuff I used to be able to but will continue that way for now, unless someone has that generous bone in them, LOL, new art coming shortly.

I don't know if it's the loss of the job, the endless amount of rejection or just my current attitude but it's the way I feel. I just need to find something to get my art back on track, need a ray of light you know, sorry just a feeling journal, I don't do this....ever....so yeah.

I just received sketchbook, The Grind, in the mail yesterday and it has instantly become one of my favorite sketchbooks. Please anybody and everybody that's into clean lines, smooth colors and great comic book design go to page here and lean on him about getting a copy, it's worth it on every level!!!!!

So I am going to sponsor another coloring tournament for all of those that were interested in the first and couldn't get to it and for those who participated in the first. The rules and regulations are the same as are the prizes, but this time the pic will be the Maxx and Puc piece from my gallery. Feedback from the three professors:

Crit 1: Good overall feel to the piece, methodical in content the colors play to the emotional side of the characters and you can sense their is something coming, the background keeps the heroic we can do anything feel, while also bring that sense of urgency to the group shot. Jake why didn't you clean up the lines before sending this out, the hand on Green Lantern, uhg, could be fixed in a few second but the colorists did a great job working through it.

Crit 2: I like this piece over the other piece based off of the dark threatening sense that the triad look like their fixing to encounter. A broodish Batman can be hard to pull off when matched with darker backgrounds but their is a good sense of composition here. Love the glow effect on the Green Lantern. You know my feelings on Superman but for the purpose of crit value, he is definitely the boy scout, american made superhero and the colorists highlights that effect with the centralized aura of light. Good job.

Crit 3: Short and sweet Jake, composition 7/10, detail work 9/10, lines 8/10, colors 9/10 and effectiveness 9/10. 43/50, not bad Jake, tell the colorists great job overcoming your challenges. Good to hear from you and when are you coming back?

your guardian lwa is eseli danto, the unkidnly hag, this eseli danto is very tricky in fact she can be dangerous if you dont know how to handle her. eseli danto appears as an old lady trough your life and if you awnser in kindly she grants you favors. she usualy says, oh mi oh me I am there in the corner, in the cave, nowhone lisens to me. they you must reply eseli eseli I have no bones, eseli eseli i have no bones, if you do then eseli learns that you respect old people and she protects you. she will sometimes discuise herself as virgin mary so if you ever see the virgin, be careful for it could be eseli trying to test you. you unfortunaly have a lwa who likes to test you. at one time in haiti eseli danto appeared as the virgin mary above the tree tops, a priest who believed her to be a demon ordered a cop to shut eseli, then wounded eseli flew aove the trees as the cops shot her, strange enough the next day the priest died. eseli can be a very tricky lwa, be careful from now on to avoid misery but know this, eseli is by far one of the most powerful lwas in the realm, keep her happy and you will gain the dark ability to kill people by writtin their name down on a pice of paper. eseli danto was the inspiration for Rin from death note. just a side note, her powers all involve the obscure. but if you follow the path of light, she will evolve into eseli suki and her ability affect your lovelife, you will be a stud with women with eseli suki, but be aware if you dive in darkness to long with eseli then shi will evolve into her petro form and then you will die. so dont go for eseli's dark nature.
